BijlesHuis is a Belgium-based tutoring company that makes it easy to get tutored, wherever you are in the world. In 2016, they launched their online student/tutor portal along with their video conferencing tool, Vectera.

I worked with the founder of BijlesHuis to get a fresh new look, updated color palette, and design guide for internal use. I designed a robust and responsive sign-in platform to automate enrollment, student<>teacher matching, scheduling, and video conferencing.

The Challenge

A Fresh Face

Bijleshuis wanted a modern new face for the launch of it’s student/tutor portal. We worked to redefine a more subtle color palette and more playful design to make this educational tool more modern and fun to use and to give them a leg-up on their more traditional competition.

The Redesign

Creating playful usability

With the goal of creating a fun and easy to use platform, I chose a bright color palette, soft edges, and subtle drop shadows. Focusing on data organization and visualization helped transform complicated tables and lists into bite-sized graphics.

At a glance

In designing this platform, my goal was to create a space that was enjoyable, easy to understand, and accessible to people of various backgrounds and languages. To achieve this, I needed to create intuitive navigation, bold visuals, and clearly articulated data.

Mobile Responsive

To allow students and tutors to access their sessions from anywhere, it was fundamental to have a fully functional mobile experience. I designed the main elements and forms to easily scale to mobile and tablet devices.

That’s all for now!
